This device and procedure is designed to provide spinal fixation in lumbar fusion procedures, including the treatment of degenerative disc disease, spinal tumors, spinal stenosis, and trauma. The device is placed between the spinous processes, away from the neural elements including the spinal cord and spinal nerves. The implant is placed through a 2-4 inch incision using a precision guided inserter. Additional bone is removed as needed to create the required space.
These devices are implanted to alleviate the compressed nerves and spinal canal. This allows increased blood flow to these spinal structures removing pain and restoring ambulatory function within weeks. StabliLink also uses fusion techniques with a bone matrix thereby fusing the decompressed areas in position.
